Scran is a personal calorie tracker run as an independent project, not a company. This page explains plainly what the site stores about you and what happens to it. No legalese, no surprises.

What Scran stores

  • Your account — username, email address and a hashed password. The password itself is never stored, only a cryptographic hash of it.
  • Your profile — the details you enter during setup: age, sex, height, current and target weight, activity level, chosen avatar and weigh-in schedule. These exist to calculate your calorie target.
  • Your food diary — what you log, when, and the nutrition figures at the time you logged it.
  • Your weigh-ins — the weights you record and when.
  • Game data — XP, levels, badges, streaks, recipes, likes, friendships and invite redemptions.

What other players can see

Your profile page shows your username, avatar, level, rank, XP, streak, badge counts, showcased badges, friends and recipes to other signed-in players. Your food diary, weight and profile details (age, height, weight, targets) are never shown to anyone but you.

Where it lives

Everything is stored in Scran's own database on privately run hardware. Traffic to and from the site is encrypted (HTTPS) and routed through Cloudflare, which acts as the network layer and sees traffic the way any hosting provider would.

Third parties

  • Open Food Facts — when you scan or search for a food, the barcode or search words are sent to the Open Food Facts database to look up nutrition data. No personal details go with them.
  • Cloudflare — provides the site's HTTPS connection and DNS.
  • Google Fonts — the site's typefaces load from Google's servers, which sees your IP address the way any web request does.
  • That's the lot. There is no advertising, no analytics tracking, and your data is never sold or shared with anyone.

Cookies

Scran uses cookies only to keep you signed in and to protect forms against forgery. There are no tracking or advertising cookies of any kind.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account yourself at any time from Settings → Personal data. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your account, diary, weigh-ins, XP, badges, recipes and friendships are all removed. There is no soft-delete and no retention period.

Questions

Scran is run by one person. If you have a question about your data, ask the person who gave you your invite code — it's a short chain.
